Every 8th mother suffers from postpartum depression.
This condition is very dangerous not only for the mother, but also for her baby. When depressed, many young mothers refuse contact with their child. Their unstable mental state negatively affects their health. This leads to the loss of breast milk. There were also recorded cases of beating and killing of babies by depressed mothers. Therefore, postpartum depression cannot be ignored.
But how to deal with it? British scientists were looking for answers.
Volunteers with postnatal depression were divided into 3 groups. Each group used a separate treatment method. Patients from the first group were taught to sing, mastering musical positivity and releasing negative emotions. The second group began to entertain themselves in quests and other games that distract from negative thoughts. In the third group, traditional antidepressant treatments were used.
After 3 weeks, participants in all three groups began to feel better. First of all, mothers from the first group managed to cope with depression. It is clear that vocal techniques will now be used more frequently in the treatment of postpartum depression.
