About
Psychoanalytic therapy is a mode of intensive listening that provides you with a protected space to say anything that comes to mind; it is a chance to explore thoughts and feelings that you previously have not been able to articulate to yourself and to others. Psychoanalysis is a unique, extraordinary relationship that facilitates the emergence of novel and surprising ways of seeing and thinking. Inhibitions and destructive conflicts in areas of creative pursuit, career, relationships, and sex dissipate, leading to new possibilities and experiences, and the alleviation of anxiety and suffering.
I work with people to help them transcend impasses and break painful patterns, allowing for greater individuality, freedom, and aliveness. I see a wide range of clients of varying ethnicity, race, class, sexuality, and gender expression. I specialize in lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender, and nonbinary individuals.
I welcome Russian speakers and all immigrants who struggle with homesickness, dislocation, and the pressures of acculturation. I earned a PhD in History from Columbia University and I am a scholar and former professor. This trajectory informs my work with individuals in high-stress fields that involve performance, writing, and self-motivating productivity.
