Schizophrenia statistics

Schizophrenia is widespread among mental illnesses and is one of the causes of disability in people. But the first place in terms of disability is occupied by patients with cardiovascular diseases.

In the United States, there is a low standard of living for people with schizophrenia.

5% are homeless, 5% are permanently in hospitals or boarding schools, 6% are held in prisons, 34% live in isolation from society.

According to the World Health Organization, forty million people suffer from schizophrenia and dementia.

Ten percent of people with schizophrenia commit suicide. According to statistics, schizophrenia affects people from low-income families of residents of large cities and people from high – income rural residents.
